There’s a quirk in the calendar this year: Memorial Day fell earlier than usual, and Labor Day is a bit later. That means that technically, summer 2026 is longer than most.

With all that extra time to soak up the sun, many of us here at Vogue have planned summer trips to take full advantage. It might still be May, but we are getting ready to set our out-of-office replies, packing our vacation essentials, and looking forward to traveling near and far. If you’re looking for some travel inspiration, or summer vacation destinations to add to your wishlist, look no further.

Whether we’re hitting the beach in New York or Massachusetts, going sightseeing in Portugal, or popping over to some under-the-radar Greek island gems, here’s a look at the summer trips Vogue staffers have booked this year.

I’m going back to Greece around the August holiday—but while I’ll be spending time at home and some familiar favorites (including my best friend’s house in Skiathos), I try to visit a new island each summer. This year, that’s Amorgos, one of the easternmost Cycladic islands. Known for its secluded beaches carved into a rocky, rugged terrain, a labyrinthine chora perched high above the Aegean, and, as every local guide excitedly points out, a starring role in the 1988 film Le Grand Bleu, it offers a quieter pace compared to its more-trafficked neighbors. Since it’s on the same ferry path, I’m also going to be returning to Astypalaia. I first visited the butterfly-shaped island a couple of summers ago, and it remains one of my favorite places in the world. It’s home to another beautiful chora, wild beaches, and some of the best meatballs I’ve ever had (at Apanemia, a teeny taverna where your dinner companion is an army of stray cats). —Elly Leavitt, lifestyle shopping editor
