While I don’t follow any one football team religiously, I’m drawn to the visual language of the sport—the oversized jerseys, the track jackets, the retro crests—and the relaxed sensibility that feels as at home in a city as it does on the sidelines. In my own wardrobe, and especially with a household of young boys, these are the items I reach for most during summer.
My styling approach is all about contrast—think vintage jerseys worn with denim cut-offs, oversized track jackets layered over slip dresses, and track pants or shorts thrown over a bikini after a day at the beach. I’ve always been drawn to this kind of mix—both in my personal wardrobe and my styling work—to create interest in an outfit that still feels timeless.
As the World Cup puts football culture firmly in the spotlight this season, its influence extends far beyond the pitch and into everyday dressing. These are the five collaborations that, for me, best capture the intersection of sport and style—and the ones I’ll be wearing all summer.
Nike x Palace Skateboards x England’s Men’s Team
Nike and Palace Skateboards come together for “The Three Lions by Palace,” a football-inspired capsule merging England heritage with Palace’s streetwear aesthetic. Varsity jackets, graphic tees, tracksuits (my personal favorite), beanies, and St. George’s Cross jerseys give the collection a retro football feel, while also supporting Football Beyond Borders and its work in education and social inclusion by featuring their emblem on the official England World Cup pre-match shirts. The collection launches from June 12.
