Well, that’s one way to reveal your pregnancy! This week, model Barbara Palvin used the 2026 Cannes Film Festival to officially announce that she is expecting a child with husband Dylan Sprouse.
Given this will be the happy couple’s first baby, there was certainly a celebratory spirit in the air at the French seaside town—one that has visibly translated over into Palvin’s red carpet choices at the iconic festival all week long. The model and actress made a high-wattage entrance into maternity dressing, choosing striking designs that proudly accentuate—instead of conceal—her growing baby bump while making the rounds on the step and repeat.
Styled by Marc Eram, Palvin kicked her winning fashion streak off at the premiere of Parallel Tales last week, sporting a powder-blue Miu Miu gown edged in feathered trim. Made from gauzy chiffon and featuring gently pleated cap-sleeves, she posed for cameras while elegantly cradling her bump, thereby making her happy news red carpet official. She immediately followed it up with a contrasting vision of maternity wear, slipping into a fitted, tailored white dress shirt and a black high-waisted ball skirt by Karl Lagerfeld for a screening of Karma. Who says maternity always means stretchy?
Over the weekend, however, the model returned to a more comfort-minded approach by slipping into a Willy Chavarria oversized puff-sleeved gown in bubblegum pink, a roomy and spacious dress perfect for a fashion-loving mom-to-be. Ditto for the Grecian, off-the-shoulder Ella Mae gown she wore to the Paper Tiger premiere, which hit all the right notes of effortlessness and romance.
Palvin is not the only star as of late to elevate the art of maternity style—call it the Rihanna effect. Now there’s a whole new generation of expectant moms taking over Hollywood who are redefining pregnancy dressing. From Jennifer Lawrence to Margot Robbie, many starlets have leveled up their maternity closets, proving that style and practicality can go hand-in-hand. There is something about Palvin’s splashy, high-profile Cannes commitment to glitz and glamour, though, that is especially commendable. Not only is she serving looks on her own accord—she’s serving for two.
Below, a look at Palvin’s best maternity moments at Cannes.
