Laufey just tried tweezing her brows for the first time—and she wants you to know it didn’t go well. “That shit is so painful,” she admits while sharing her full routine with the Vogue Beauty Secrets camera. “No one tells you.”
Now, though, she knows “I like a natural but kind of brushed-up brow,” she explains while using Anastasia Beverly Hills’ Brow Wiz Mechanical Pencil to create tiny hairlike marks in the sparse parts of her brows. Then, she locks everything in place with Ilia’s In Frame Brow Gel.
After brows, the two-time Grammy winner moves on to a neutral eye look, using a Shu Uemura palette she “accidentally” stole from her mom but now can’t bear to part with. “I love going home to Iceland,” she says. “I miss my parents so much. I miss home every single day, but it smells a little bit like home right now, so it’s okay.” She holds up Fischersund’s No. 23 candle. (“I hoard Icelandic candles,” she shares, adding that 23 is her lucky number.)
Later, as she dabs on a bit of Chanel’s Lip and Cheek Balm with her fingers—which she says “gives the most beautiful flush of color”—Laufey is reminded of the Icelandic phrase for doing your makeup. It means “to paint myself,” she shares. “And I always think that’s really beautiful. It’s like a canvas, and you can have fun with it and paint.”
